Retailers Offer New Take on New Year's Eve Recipes

As New Year’s Eve approaches, some retailers have been targeting consumers who’ll ring in the New Year at home by offering recipes on Twitter that put a new spin on traditional party food.

Dierberg’s Markets, Chesterfield, Mo., and Whole Foods Market, Austin, Texas, posted recipes for mixed Champagne drinks. Diegberg’s Champagne Punch recipe features cranberry-raspberry juice and triple sec, while Whole Foods’ Clementine Crush Sparkling Cocktail recipe includes sparkling wine, Clementine juice, fresh cranberries and rosemary.

In addition to drink ideas, Whole Foods has pointed customers to a slew of New Year’s menu ideas, including a recipe for the untraditionally prepared deviled eggs with chick peas.

PCC Natural Markets, Seattle, also offered an idea for a party favorite with a twist, promoting its recipe for a wheat-free homemade party mix made nuts, cereal, pretzels, spelt and butter, seasoned with paprika and garlic powder.

For shoppers with less time for party preparation, The Fresh Market, Greensboro, N.C., suggested customers pick up a “Take & Bake Brie” which is covered with fruit preserves and nuts and in a pastry shell, ready to be baked.
