Reusable Bags at Lund Help Charity

EDINA, Minn. — To date, Lund Food Holdings has given more than $93,000 to the Second Harvest Heartland hunger relief organization through its "Reuse and Reward" program.

For every reusable bag used at all Lunds and Byerly's stores, the company makes a 5-cent donation to Second Harvest. For every dollar donated, Second Harvest distributes $9 worth of food to programs that serve those in need, according to Lund.

This year, Second Harvest will deliver more than 34 million pounds of food to more than 1,000 non-profit agencies and programs in Minnesota and Western Wisconsin, including soup kitchens, homeless shelters, senior community centers and children's after-school programs.

Lund recommends that instead of plastic bags, shoppers use its reusable branded bags, which sell for $1.50 each.
