ST. LOUIS — Schnuck Markets here terminated its “Pump Up the Savings” fuel rewards program this week in Memphis, Tenn., because the program failed to meet company expectations of increased basket and cart orders, according to local media reports.

Schnucks’ rewards customers through its loyalty card a 10-cent per gallon discount on gas for every $100 purchase at stores. A $200 purchase earns a 20-cent per gallon discount and a $300 purchase 30-cent per gallon.

The program has been running since 2002. Schnucks operates eight fueling centers in the market.

Schnucks didn’t return calls for more information so it wasn’t clear what this means for fuel rewards in its other markets.

Schnucks operates 105 stores (including five Logli stores) and 101 in-store pharmacies in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa, Tennessee and Mississippi.
