WASHINGTON — Whole wheat dark chocolate cookies, roasted peach whiskey sauce and chili lime tequila tortilla brittle were among the specialty products recognized Tuesday at the National Association for the Specialty Food Trade’s Summer Fancy Food Show here.

The products are among 33 Sofi (specialty outstanding food innovation) Gold Award winners. Others include: Nielsen-Massey Vanillas’ Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Bean Paste; Vosges Haut-Chocolat’s Black Salt Caramel Bar; The Gracious Gourmet’s Spiced Sour Cherry Spread; Nuovo Pasta Productions’ Spinach, Portabella & Gruyere Ravioli; and Dulcet Cuisine’s Mild Indian Curry Ketchup.

“A Sofi Gold Award is a seal of excellence that is widely recognized by discerning retailers and restaurateurs around the world,” said Ann Daw, president of the NASFT, in a statement. “This year’s winners stand out as great examples of the creativity and commitment to quality that are the foundation of the specialty food industry.”

This spring, a national panel of specialty food experts narrowed the field to 125 Silver Finalists in five days of judging at NASFT offices in New York City. Earlier this week, more than 200 buyers at the Summer Fancy Food Show tasted and evaluated the finalist products and cast votes to select these gold winners.
