Specialty Foods to Reach Poor

San Francisco’s needy will receive more than 100,000 pounds of specialty foods and beverages, thanks to donations pledged by Winter Fancy Food Show exhibitors.

NEW YORK — San Francisco’s needy will receive more than 100,000 pounds of specialty foods and beverages, thanks to donations pledged by Winter Fancy Food Show exhibitors.

For the second year, the show’s organizer, the National Association for the Specialty Food Trade will work with Feed the Hungry to collect and distribute specialty products to a network of community programs.

High-end chocolates, cheese and pasta sauces were among the foods that reached 5,400 residents last year.

“When they open their grocery bags at home or in a shelter and find foods of the highest quality mixed in, it takes ‘somebody cares’ to a whole new level,” said Stefan Radelich, executive director of Feed the Hungry, in a statement.

The Winter Fancy Food Show will take place Jan. 17-19.
