Sprouts Launches Scholarship Program for Employees

Sprouts Farmers Market has launched a college and vocational school scholarship program to provide financial assistance for its employees and their families.

PHOENIX, Ariz. — Sprouts Farmers Market has launched a college and vocational school scholarship program to provide financial assistance for its employees and their families.

The program, named The Henry Boney Memorial Scholarship Program in honor of the late patriarch of Sprouts’ founding family, will award up to 17 $2,000 scholarships to qualified applicants each year based on their academic record, track record of participation in school and community activities, and financial need. The initial application deadline is May 30, and the first grants will be awarded for the 2009-2010 academic year.

Henry Boney (1914-2005), a retail entrepreneur, founded or helped found many grocery and retail brands, including Boney’s Market and Speedee Mart. His children and grandchildren went on to create several more, including Windmill Farms, Henry’s and Sprouts.
