MINNEAPOLIS — The back-to-school season is here, and Supervalu is capitalizing on it with reloadable gift cards for college students.
Marketed as a college care package that fits in a wallet, the Student Card can be loaded and reloaded throughout the college year.
"It's the easy way to keep your student's fridge full at college," Supervalu writes in promotional materials. "You load it. They spend it."
The Student Card is available at over 1,500 stores in 28 states, including Albertsons, Jewel-Osco and Lucky.
Along with groceries, it can be used to buy gas at the retailer's gas stations. The retailer is promoting the card as a convenient way for parents to keep their children well fed while away from home.
"Load a gift card to help your student live and eat well," stated Supervalu.
