BOSTON, Mass. — Two major supermarket chains — Hannaford Bros., Scarborough, Maine, and Stop & Shop/Giant Food, Landover, Md. — will be represented on a panel at the Whole Grains Council’s international conference, April 20-22, in Alexandria, Va.

Hannaford’s Connie Clifford, manager, healthy living consumer education, and Paulette Thompson, manager, health and wellness, at Stop & Shop Supermarkets/Giant Food, will describe their companies’ programs to promote healthier foods, including whole grains. Other panelists will reveal findings of the council’s recent survey of a typical supermarket and will discuss what factors determine which whole grain products a supermarket carries, and how the retail world promotes healthier eating.

The upcoming conference, entitled “Make Half [at Least] of Your Grains Whole,” features a full schedule of speakers presenting data from the scientific and culinary communities.
