Tom Thumb and Randalls convert to Blockbuster Express

NCR Corp. announced it was converting DVDPlay kiosks at 105 Tom Thumb and Randalls stores in Dallas, Houston and Austin to Blockbuster Express-branded DVD-rental kiosks.

DULUTH, Ga. — NCR Corp. here announced Wednesday it was converting DVDPlay kiosks at 105 Tom Thumb and Randalls stores in Dallas, Houston and Austin to Blockbuster Express-branded DVD-rental kiosks.

NCR acquired DVDPlay in December 2009 to expand its market share in states such as California, Colorado and Illinois. DVDPlay had been deployed in stores at Safeway, Pleasanton, Calif., the parent company of Tom Thumb and Randalls.

The Blockbuster rental kiosks reportedly carry 950 DVDs, double the inventory capacity of the previous kiosks. NCR said it is extending by two hours Blockbuster DVD returns in stores.
