ROSEVILLE, Calif. — Union representatives said they have begun "informational picket lines" at three Fresh & Easy locations around Bakersfield, Calif.
United Food and Commercial Workers Local 8 here said picketers are "asking the public not to shop at Fresh & Easy and to shop instead at stores such as Save Mart, Food Maxx, Foods Co, Albertsons and Vons."
The stores targeted include two locations in Bakersfield and one in Delano, Calif. Fresh & Easy, a division of United Kingdom-based Tesco, is a non-union chain.
"It's our employees' right to choose unionization, but thus far they haven't done so," Brendan Wonnacott, a spokesman for Fresh & Easy, told SN. "We stand by our commitment to be a great place to work, offering benefits and competitive wages to our employees."
