VALLEY STREAM, N.Y. — Workers voted not to have a union at a Target store here Friday, but the United Food and Commercial Workers said it would seek a new election, according to reports.

Workers voted 137 to 85 against the union in what would have created the first unionized Target store in the country.

UFCW Local 1500 said it would ask the National Labor Relations Board to schedule another vote, claiming that Target intimidated workers, according to reports.

Molly Snyder, a Target spokeswoman, was quoted in the New York Times saying, "Target believes we have followed all laws as outlined by the National Labor Relations Board."
