PALM DESERT, Calif. — Three grocery company presidents will discuss how their organizations utilize educational programs at the university and community college levels to recruit personnel at the annual convention of the Western Association of Food Chains here next month.
The executives will be Sue Klug, president of the Southern California division of Supervalu-owned Albertsons; Jim Lee, president of Stater Bros. Markets; and Karl Schroeder, president of the Northern California division of Safeway.All three are graduates of the Food Industry Management program at the University of Southern California's Marshall School of Business.
According to WAFC, they will discuss how their organizations utilize WAFC-sponsored programs, including the retail management certificate program at the community college level and the USC program, to develop associates.
The symposium, which was announced Thursday as an addition to the previously announced WAFC program, will be moderated by Cherie Phipps, WAFC education director, and Bob Hermanns, director of the USC program.
