LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. — GS1 US announced that Joe Sheridan, executive vice president of Wakefern Food Corp., and Mark Walchirk, president of the Specialty Care Solutions division of McKesson Corp., have been appointed to the GS1 US Board of Governors.
GS1 US is the not-for-profit organization that develops supply chain standards, including bar codes, for 25 industries.
Sheridan oversees corporate merchandising, advertising, marketing, finance, technology, quality assurance, communications, warehousing and transportation for Wakefern, the largest retailer-owned cooperative in the U.S.; he also manages all of Wakefern’s product divisions.
The GS1 US Board of Governors includes executives from Coca-Cola North America; Johnson & Johnson; Kraft Foods, the Kroger Co., Procter & Gamble, Publix Super Markets, Sam’s Club, J.M. Smucker and Wegmans Food Markets, in addition to the Food Marketing Institute and Grocery Manufacturers Association.
