Walgreens to Supply Caterpillar With Low-Cost Prescriptions

Walgreens will supply more than 70,000 Caterpillar employees, retirees and eligible dependents with low cost prescription drugs, according to an agreement announced yesterday.

DEERFIELD, Ill. — Walgreens here will supply more than 70,000 Caterpillar employees, retirees and eligible dependents with low-cost prescription drugs, according to an agreement announced yesterday.

Under the program, Caterpillar will be given Walgreens’ proprietary price list which is based off of the cost Walgreens pays the drug manufacturer.

Walgreens and Caterpillar also agreed to explore, through Walgreens Complete Care and Well-Being program, other ways of creating an integrated health care and pharmacy program.

This discount will be effective January 1, 2010, to coincide with the effective date of Walgreens’ Pharmacy Management Excellence program.

The Walgreen-Caterpillar deal follows a similar partnership that the manufacturer has with retailer Wal-Mart Stores that began last September, media sources reported.
