ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Wegmans Food Markets here has opened its latest restaurant concept, "The Food Bar" at its Pittsford, N.Y. location, according to a report in the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle.
The new fast-casual concept features 120 seats, "and a menu with great cheeseburgers, beer and wine on draft, great ice cream and frozen custard," Eric Wendorff, executive chef for The Food Bar, told the Democrat & Chronicle. Wendorff said that most items, including burgers and seafood, will be ready for diners within a 10 minute time frame. Diners can place their orders and take a pager, or sit down for waiter service.
The Food Bar will be located in the space previously occupied by Wegmans' upscale, full-service restaurant "Tastings," which was closed a year ago and replaced by the Next Door Bar and Grill, located in a separate building across the street from the Pittsford store. The Next Door Bar and Grill will continue operation.
