AUSTIN, Texas — Whole Foods Market’s Missions App, designed to promote wellness and encourage healthier lifestyles, is available for free at the App Store.

It includes more than 70 challenges that users can complete to earn badges like Organic Avenger, Local Yokel and Nutty Ninja. Users create their own profile to track their badges, and favorite tips that can be shared via Facebook, Twitter and email. Tips include nutrition, food selection, storage and cooking advice.

The app also includes a store locator, which works just like Whole Foods Market Recipes, the company's first app launched in June 2009.

"At Whole Foods Market our shoppers often come to us for advice on how to take charge of their health," said Chad Sarno, global "Health Starts Here" culinary educator for Whole Foods, in a statement. "The Missions App helps iPad, iPhone and iPod touch users incorporate healthy foods, exercise and more through simple, everyday steps."
