Whole Grains Council Aims Contest at Retail Customers

BOSTON – The Whole Grains Council has launched a consumer photo contest, and is urging retailers to get their customers involved.

Entering the competition simply requires uploading a photograph of someone – maybe a child with a whole grain muffin or cookie – enjoying a bona fide whole grain product. In-store bakery items that are whole grain, as well as those in the grocery aisles, qualify.

“Our overall goal is to reach consumers who may not have realized there are so many different ways to enjoy whole grain products,” Cynthia Harriman, the Council’s director of food and nutrition strategies, told SN. “It’s also a good way to celebrate September as Whole Grains Month.”

The grand prize winner will receive the services of a personal chef for a week. First and second prizes include whole grain cookbooks and whole grain products for shoppers who enter.
