ATLANTA — Two Michigan stores have recalled a total of 1,050 pounds of ground beef after 16 people across five states were infected with salmonella, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Seven of those sickened reported eating a raw beef dish from a Michigan restaurant that was supplied by two retailers, Gab Halal Foods and Jouni Meats.
As a precaution, Gab Halal Foods of Troy recalled 550 pounds of ground beef produced from Dec. 4-10, 2012, and sold without a label, while Jouni Meats of Sterling Heights recalled 500 pounds of ground beef produced from Dec. 4-9, 2012, and sold without a label.
