Supermarkets looking to better serve ethnic shoppers  — and/or younger, more adventuresome eaters — should consider taking a page from food retailers serving the New York borough of Queens, home of the Mets, both of the city’s airports and one of the country’s most diverse populations.

According to U.S. census data, nearly half of Queens’ 2.3 million residents are foreign-born, and represent a range of ethnicities from Asia, Europe, Latin America and Africa.
