The Winn-Dixie in Margate, Fla., is the second to feature the company’s new prototype design, emphasizing fresh and prepared foods. Located in a building that previously housed a Publix supermarket, the Margate store is the first new Winn-Dixie to open in Florida, its home state, since 2004. The Margate store features a hot barbecue bar, among an array of prepared foods, such as a wood-burning rotisserie carving station as part of an expanded deli area. The deli also includes an olive and bruschetta bar and a wing bar.
The extensive perishables selection includes an expanded produce section.
The seafood department emphasizes fresh-caught offerings.
In the bakery, expanded offerings include European-style desserts and customizable cakes.
The new Margate store offers about 2,000 organic and natural items, about 30% more than the average Winn-Dixie, according to local reports. It also features a large selection of Hispanic and kosher items.
Wooden floors in the wine department add an upscale feel to the store.
