Kroger Workers Ratify Labor Pacts

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Kroger Co. said its workers have ratified two labor agreements covering 10,500 workers in its Atlanta and Mid-South Divisions.

Members of United Food & Commercial Workers Local 1995 earlier this month had rejected Cincinnati-based Kroger’s previous offer, but the two sides continued meeting and reached a tentative agreement on Dec. 14.

“By standing together, we were able to significantly improve the company’s previous ‘best offer’ by multiple positive changes in both language and health care,” said Greg Stallings, president of Local 1995, in a letter to members.

Terms of the agreements were not disclosed. They cover Kroger workers in Nashville and Knoxville, Tenn.; Huntsville, Ala.; and Bowling Green, Ky.

Bruce Lucia, president of Kroger's Atlanta Division, added, "I want to thank our associates for their patience during the negotiation process. I am grateful to work with a dedicated and professional team committed to serving our customers with excellence.”
