Calif. firm recalls 9M pounds of uninspected beef

Rancho Feeding Corporation, Petaluma, Calif., has recalled 8.7 million pounds of beef that included diseased and unsound animals processed without USDA inspection, according to USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service.

The beef was processed from Jan. 1, 2013 to Jan. 7, 2014, and shipped to distribution centers and retailers in California, Florida, Illinois and Texas.

Recalled products include beef carcasses, oxtail, liver, tongue and veal cuts, among others. For a full list of recalled products and case code numbers, see FSIS’s recall notice.

No illnesses have been reported in association with these products.
