Aldi flags dietitian-approved foods

Aldi will soon highlight existing products that have been flagged by registered dietitians for their nutritional value as part of its “Dietitian’s Picks” program.

Selections will be made by members of the Aldi Advisory Council, made up of five registered dietitians specializing in family nutrition, sports performance and promoting a positive body image.

“My picks are all about products that provide energy and nutrients you need every day for maximum performance physically and mentally,” said Advisory Council member Tara Gidus, in a press statement. She recommends Fit & Active Egg Whites, bell peppers and Kirkwood Fresh Chicken Tenderloins.

Dietitian Sally Kuzemchak will identify healthy options that are also cost effective.

“As a mom of two, I understand it can be difficult to find food options that are affordable and nutritious,” she said in a press release. “My picks will not only make you feel good feeding it to your kids but you’ll also feel good about the money you save.”

Lunch Buddies Natural Applesauce, SimplyNature Organic frozen Strawberries and SimplyNature Reduced Fat 2% Organic Milk are among her picks.

Aldi's U.S. headquarters is in Batavia, Ill.
