The perimeter continues to be a bright spot in the grocery store.
“Fresh remains growing. Consumers are spending more in fresh than the previous year, whereas in center store average household spending is relatively flat,” said Jonna Parker, director, Nielsen Perishables Group. “Certainly there’s a lot of dynamics happening at the category level and things are shifting around, but for the most part we’re still seeing extremely strong growth, especially in produce and deli.”
