Third 365 store highlights global cuisine, convenience items

A third 365 by Whole Foods Market location that opened Wednesday in Bellevue, Wash., emphasizes global prepared foods offerings as well as pre-prepped products in other fresh departments.

Rotating items in the hot and cold food bars include bibimbap and kimchee fried rice, chicken verde enchiladas and schichimi togorashi Brussels sprouts, while the soup selection might be West African peanut, Tonkatsu chicken and vegatable soup, chicken Hlelem or vegan coconut vegetable.

Customers can order hot dogs, tacos, bowls and burritos from self-serve kiosks. One pizza features chicken bulgogi. A vegan “Carrot Dog” is made from a braised carrot, tamarind chutney slaw, cilantro and avocado.

In October, an outpost of Washington Asian restaurant Wild Ginger will open inside the 365 store. Called Wild Ginger Kitchen, the menu will feature customized bowls and season dishes.

Elsewhere in fresh, the meat and seafood departments will offer a large selection of ready-to-cook items and marinated meats. The produce department features a wall of bagged greens, salads and pre-prepped items.

“From the food offerings to the design, we’re excited to introduce people to a shopping experience that delivers on the quality standards they expect from Whole Foods Market in a fun new format that’s easy to navigate and is focused on value in every department,” Jeff Turnas, president of 365 by Whole Foods Market, said in a press release. “Whether you’re planning a quick stop on the way home from work for a grab-and-go dinner, stocking up on groceries for the week, or fueling up with a burrito after shopping, you’ll find a blend of innovation and convenience here that’s unmatched.”
