Sarasin: Industry faces ‘full agenda’ in 2015

FMI president and CEO Leslie Sarasin describes the challenges and concerns confronting the food industry in 2015, in this FMI Midwinter interview with SN’s David Orgel and Supermarket Guru Phil Lempert. Sarasin said FMI must educate “a brand new Congress” about the food retailing industry. “We’re focused on food safety, healthcare and some of the issues that go along with the Affordable Care Act” — illustrated by legislation that would define full-time employment as 40 hours instead of the current ACA 30-hour threshold. “We’ve got a full agenda ahead,” Sarasin said, noting that retailers are concerned about healthcare costs, local and national economy, and the competition.
