PITTSBURGH — Giant Eagle may be considering a location for its second Express format, according to a local newspaper. The Advance Leader in Oakmont, Pa., reported yesterday that the town has been “in contact” with the retailer about replacing an independently owned Giant Eagle, which is closing, with the smaller Express store. Giant Eagle has a long-term lease on the property, the newspaper said. A Giant Eagle Express that opened last month in Harmar, Pa., outside of Pittsburgh, is 14,000 square feet, with prepared foods, fuel pumps, a full pharmacy and an edited selection of groceries and health and beauty care items. Company executives have described the format as “contemporary neighborhood grocery store with fuel.”
