Food banks across Ohio, including the Cleveland Food Bank, were recent recipients of thousands of dollars from a Walmart foundation.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Eight hunger-fighting nonprofits across Ohio, including the
, learned recently that the agencies have been awarded nearly $600,000 from the Walmart Foundation's State Giving Program.
"Collectively, these organizations serve almost every county in Ohio with a wide range of services to ensure families and children have access to food," Doug Yost, Walmart regional general manager for northern Ohio, said in a release."
SGP grants were presented to the following organizations during events in their respective cities:
- $100,000 to the Greater Cleveland Food Bank to expand community outreach and access to services.
- $75,000 to Second Harvest Foodbank of North Central Ohio (Lorain) to support the farmers market program.
- $70,000 to Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank to purchase a vehicle and increase community outreach.
- $50,000 to Faith Mission (Columbus) to support Healthy Hunger Relief program.
- $100,000 to Lutheran Social Services of Central Ohio to support the Healthier Foods/Finances program.
- $50,000 to Feed Lucas Children to purchase two delivery vans.
- $75,000 to Hocking-Athens Perry Community Action to purchase a vehicle and increase capacity.
- $75,000 to Freestore Feedbank Inc. (Cincinnati) to purchase a new delivery truck.
