Randy Edeker looks before he leaps. Hy-Vee has been working on steady, planned store growth and remodels.

This year Hy-Vee has added five new stores and 12 fuel stations, and remodeled about 15 large stores, Edeker said.

Headquartered in West Des Moines, Iowa, the company is looking to the north and east for expansion, including expanding from southern Minnesota to Minneapolis.
