Catering to Diabetics

Retailers cater to diabetics not only with literature and counseling, but also store-brand medicine and supplies

Private label is playing a greater role in diabetes management, as retailers launch their own brands of meters, test strips, lancets — even insulin.

At a time when 25.8 million children and adults in the United States — 8.3% of the population — have diabetes, with about 2 million new cases a year, such efforts enable retailers to cater to a huge demographic.
