ndisers, supervisors and buyers. The salary range for this wide group runs from $30,000 to $67,000.
The study surveyed salaries for 31 different full-time positions at the corporate level and in operations, merchandising/supervision, personnel and buying. The study did not include the annual salaries of supermarket presidents or chief executive officers.
According to the study, the salaries reflect a variance of plus or minus 19% from the lowest to the highest level in each job category. In compiling its data, Roth Young took into account various factors that would create a salary range for similar positions, including geographic location and company size. Bonuses, cars and other forms of compensation were not included.
The study also found that salaries across the country are becoming more equal, although the Northeast and West Coast -- historically in the high-end range -- are lagging in the current economic recovery.
