Executives from the five companies that won SN's 2005 Technology Excellence Awards convened at a dinner and ceremony on Feb. 13 at Chef Geoff's Downtown, just a few blocks from the White House in Washington. The third annual awards event coincided with Food Marketing Institute's Marketechnics show, held at the Washington Convention Center. The winners were Hannaford Bros. (chain category), Paw Paw Shopping Center (independent), Associated Food Stores (wholesaler), FreshDirect (online sales) and Marks & Spencer (international retailer). Also on hand were executives from Unified Western Grocers, the 2004 winner in the wholesaler category, and FMI.
