ATLANTA -- Packaging materials supplier Cryovac will introduce two new poultry-packaging technologies at the International Poultry Exposition being held here Jan. 21 to 23.
for customization of the packaging materials to render skin-tight packages with a smooth appearance, but with abrasion and puncture resistance.
Cryovac, which is based in Duncan, S.C., said the system, called the Series 2000 Solution, makes for a more premium product appearance by using a heat-sealing technique to eliminate the metal clips typically employed when packaging fresh and frozen whole turkeys.
The second development involves dry packaging for fresh trayed chicken parts and whole chickens. Another sealing innovation, this time used to seal the packaging ends, fights against leakage, "permitting a cleaner, more sanitary case," Cryovac said. The company has also upgraded the traditional packaging for fresh whole chickens by using a new vacuum shrink bag.
