Elstrott Joins Frontier Board
r Natural Products Co-op here and in Norway, Iowa, a leader in the natural products and organic industries, has increased its board of directors to nine members with the appointment of John B. Elstrott, Ph.D.
The announcement closely follows the addition of natural products-industry veteran Peter Roy to the Frontier board.
Elstrott is the current director of the Levy-Rosenblum Institute for Entrepreneurship at Tulane University's A.B. Freeman School of Business in New Orleans. Previously, he served as chief financial officer for Celestial Seasonings.
Elstrott is an active entrepreneur in numerous business categories, including venture capital, manufacturing, retailing, oil-field services, hazardous waste clean-up, telecommunications, music and natural foods. In addition to Frontier's board of directors, he currently serves on the boards of several other corporations and nonprofit community service organizations.
Elstrott teaches courses in entrepreneurship and has research interests in the areas of entrepreneurship, family business, strategic planning, regional economic development and the environment. He has won numerous teaching awards including the National Freedoms Foundation Leavey Award for Excellence in Private Enterprise Education and Babson College's prestigious Edwin M. Appel Prize "for bringing entrepreneurial vitality to academia." He was named the Ernst and Young Louisiana Entrepreneur of the Year in 1997 for his support of entrepreneurship education.
