Tom Gallahan Retires From Grand Union
began his career as a produce clerk and rose to vice president of produce at Grand Union here, has retired after 36 years with the company.
He is being succeeded by Victor Lamoriello, a produce merchandiser for the 253-unit chain's New York region. His position, in turn, is being filled by Michael Frawley, another produce merchandiser, Gallahan said.
Gallahan told SN he is now living in Frederick, Md. In his career at Grand Union he held numerous positions in the produce department. He was a buyer, and ran four regions for the company before becoming vice president.
Rainier Fruit Taps Sales Director
YAKIMA, Wash. -- Keith Horder has been named director of sales and marketing for Rainier Fruit Sales here, a new position.
He was most recently corporate manager of produce merchandising for Supervalu, Minneapolis, a position he held for about a year. Before that he was with Turbana Corp., Coral Gables, Fla., for two years. The bulk of his industry experience was with Kohl's/A&P, Milwaukee, where he was employed for 22 years. His last position there was as director of procurement for Western fields.
Rainier is a grower-shipper of apples, cherries, pears and asparagus.
Reynolds Joins Lowes Foods
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Glen Reynolds has been named director of produce merchandising for Lowes Foods here, a division of Alex Lee, Hickory, N.C.
He comes to Lowes, which operates 48 supermarkets, from Seessel's Supermarkets, Memphis, Tenn., where he was director of produce merchandising. He was with Seessel's for 16 years.
