Big V Taps Director Of Meat, Seafood
Supermarkets here has named John Trama director of meat and seafood, a new position. His responsibilities include overall management of the division, coordination of merchandising, sales planning and purchasing.
Prior to this, he was meat and seafood product manager for the company. He joined Big V 15 years ago as a meat manager. The company operates 32 ShopRite units in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and is the largest member of the Wakefern Food Corp. cooperative, Elizabeth, N.J.
Tropicana Products Appoints Senior VP
BRADENTON, Fla. -- Tropicana Products here has named Richard Dobry senior vice president of grocery sales and logistics for its North American operations.
Dobry joined Tropicana in 1994 as vice president of customer service and logistics. Prior to Tropicana, he was vice president of distribution operations and strategy for Kraft Foods, Northfield, Ill.
In his new role, he is responsible for U.S. sales of Tropicana juice products to retailers, as well as all North American logistics and distribution operations.
Topco Names VP Of Meat Operations
SKOKIE, Ill. -- Topco Associates, the retailer-owned wholesale cooperative here, has named Rick Findlay vice president of meat operations.
Findlay was director of deli/bakery and meat/seafood for Bruno's, Birmingham, Ala. Prior to that, he spent five years working in the corporate offices of San Antonio-based H.E. Butt Grocery Co. and 14 years in store operations and procurement and merchandising for Melrose Park, Ill.-based Jewel Food Stores.
In his present role at Topco, Findlay is working to expand the company's corporate and private label-programs in the fresh- and processed-meat categories. He also oversees all meat purchasing. Topco members operate more than 2,500 stores and represent about 14% of U.S supermarket sales, according to company officials.
Sara Lee Adds Division CEO
CHICAGO -- Sara Lee Corp. here has named Michael A. Pennella president and chief executive officer of Hillshire Farm & Kahn's, a division of Sara Lee Meats, headquartered in Cincinnati.
Pennella comes to Sara Lee from Lamb Weston Inc., where he served as vice president since 1995. His responsibilities included marketing, sales, production planning, purchasing, transportation, warehousing and customer service.
