s Industries here has announced the retirement of Russell M. Fryar, vice president and treasurer, effective Jan. 1, 1998. Jimmy M. Woodward, previously assistant treasurer for the company, has been elected treasurer and will assume Fryar's responsibilities.

Fryar joined Flowers Industries in 1972 as controller. In 1974 he was assigned the additional responsibilities of treasurer, and in 1975 was elected to the board of directors. In 1986, Fryar was named vice president of the company.

Woodward joined Flowers in 1985 as tax manager. He was appointed assistant treasurer in 1990. Previously, Woodward worked with Coopers & Lybrand. Woodward holds a degree in accounting from Florida State University.

Flowers Industries produces and markets a full line of fresh and frozen baked foods for retail and food-service customers. Flowers also is co-owner of Keebler Corp., the nation's second-largest cookie and cracker business.
