here has appointed David Boehnen to the position of executive vice president. He was senior vice president of law and external relations.

Boehnen is currently responsible for the company's legal, audit, corporate real estate, government and industry relations functions. In his new position, he assumes corporate responsibility for the Save-A-Lot limited assortment store group.

He reports to Mike Wright, chairman, chief executive officer and president of Supervalu.

Randalls Appoints Senior VP of HR

HOUSTON -- Randalls Food Markets here said Doug Beckstett has been named senior vice president of human resources. He succeeds Ron Barclay, executive vice president of human resources, who has left the company.

Beckstett was vice president of human resources, for APS, a locally-based company that sells automotive parts. He reports to Randall Onstead, president and chief executive officer.

FMI Creates New Executive Posts

WASHINGTON -- The Food Marketing Institute here has announced a series of executive appointments.

Michael Sansolo, group vice president, has been named senior vice president. In this new position, he is responsible for overseeing the FMI's industry relations, education and research programs. Sansolo is the FMI's liaison with the Joint Project on Efficient Consumer Response, and coordinates the FMI's board-level Independent Operator Committee, Industry Relations Committee and the Trade Advisors Committee. He is also responsible for the educational components of all FMI conventions. Sansolo reports to Tim Hammonds, FMI president and chief executive officer.

Kathleen A. Trepper, director of sales and marketing for the FMI's convention services department, was appointed vice president of marketing and international services, a new position. She is responsible for the marketing and promotion of the FMI conventions; international membership recruitment and services; identifying opportunities for the expansion of the FMI's international programs, with a focus on Asia and Europe; and directing the strategic and creative process of the FMI's marketing services. Trepper reports to Brian Tully, senior vice president.

Michael Smoyer has been tapped as vice president of convention and exhibit operations. He was director of exhibit sales. In his new position, Smoyer oversees the convention and exhibit operations for all FMI conventions, including the FMI's MealSolutions, MarkeTechnics and Supermarket Industry Convention and Educational Exposition. Smoyer reports to Tully.

Susan C. Wilkinson, director of information service, was selected as group director of information and editorial services. In this new position, Wilkinson is responsible for the overall administration of the information service department (the FMI library), editorial services and the FMI's web site. She reports to Karen Brown, senior vice president.

Patrick A. Davis has been named director of membership and Northeast operations, a new position. Davis, who has been director of the Northeast region for the past nine years, is responsible for recruitment, retention and other membership services for the United States, Canada, Greenland, Central America, South America, the Caribbean and Africa. He continues to provide information and guidance to the industry from the FMI offices here. He reports to Brown.
