WEGMANS NAMES TWO FROM FAMILY AS CEO, PRESIDENT
e this week promoted Danny Wegman to chief executive officer and named his daughter, Colleen, to succeed him as president, a company spokeswoman told SN last week. As the new CEO, Danny Wegman, 57, succeeds his father, Robert B. Wegman, 86, who remains chairman of the family-owned company. Colleen Wegman, 33, joined Wegmans in 1991 and served in several roles before being named senior vice president of merchandising in 2002.
SAVE-A-LOT TAPS THREE FOR DIRECTOR-LEVEL POSTS
ST. LOUIS -- Save-A-Lot here last week announced the appointments of Dave Hall to regional director, Shaennon Hill to director of accounting and Clint Johnston to director of licensed operations.
As an addition to the already existing regional directors, Hall, who began working at Save-A-Lot in 1992 and most recently served as division manager in Austenburg, Ohio, for the company's licensed retail operations, will oversee licensed retail operations in the company's northwest region.
Hill served as director of business analysis in the eastern region and will be responsible for retail gross profit, fixed assets, and wholesale and retail accounting functions in the newly created position of director of accounting.
Johnston, who has held various positions at Save-A-Lot, including district manager, project manager and most recently operations manager, will manage all perishables, general merchandise and business support for the company's licensed retail operations in the newly created position of director of licensed retail operations. Save-A-Lot is a division of Supervalu, Minneapolis.
STATER BROS. PROMOTES BROWN TO DIRECTOR OF ADVERTISING
COLTON, Calif. -- Stater Bros. Markets here last week promoted Patti Brown to the new position of director of advertising. She will have responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the company's advertising department and will report to Jerry Bee, vice president, advertising. Brown, who is not related to Jack Brown, chairman and chief executive officer, is a 22-year company veteran who for the past eight years has been manager of the advertising department.
GMA NAMES FOUR TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS
WASHINGTON -- Grocery Manufacturers of America here said yesterday it has named four new members to its board of directors. They are Paul Michaels, president of Mars; H. Fisk Johnson, chairman and chief executive officer of S.C. Johnson & Son; James Jenness, chairman and CEO of Kellogg; and Thomas J. Falk, chairman, CEO and president of Kimberly Clark. GMA is a trade organization representing the interests of branded product manufacturers.
