P&G Revamping Diaper Line
& Gamble here is launching a major overhaul of its disposable-diaper brands. As part of the effort, it will abandon its gender-specific Pampers line.
Beginning Aug. 19, it will introduce a number of new products. One will be an upgrade to its "Pampers Premium" that will include "breathable" side panels. The panels are said to help get air to a baby's skin, thereby reducing the chance of skin rash. The regular Pampers Premium version will be phased out.
The company also will convert to a unisex version of its "Pampers Stretch." The new product, "Pampers Baby-Dry," has a redesigned core that is said to work equally well for boys and girls.
Additionally, P&G will complete the national rollout of Luvs Stretch.
At the same time, it will introduce a full range of large-count packs. Sizes include jumbo, mega, 4x and 6x counts. Suggested retail for new Pampers products, depending on the count size, will range from $6.99 to $24.99; and Luvs will cost $5.89 to $18.99.
