The 30-minute card featuring a moose retails for $10 and drops to $9 with the chain's frequent-shopper club card. The 60-minute polar bear card sells for $19, but is discounted to $17 with the club card, and the 90-minute brown bear card's $28 price lowers to $25 with Carr's club card.

Candle-Lite Offers Scented Line

CINCINNATI -- Candle-Lite here has introduced Classico candles as part of its Fragrance De-Lite line of home fragrances. The candle, available in three sizes and nine scents, features rounded edges and four-color label photography.

The 5.5-ounce candle retails for $5.99 and comes in cinnamon-apple, blueberry, gardenia, potpourri, black cherry and vanilla. The 9-ounce, at $7.99, and the 20-ounce ,at $12.99, feature apple peel, cinnamon-apple, blueberry, freesia, gardenia, lilac, potpourri, black cherry and vanilla.

Scarry License Goes to American

CLEVELAND -- American Greetings here has signed an agreement with Viacom Consumer Products, the licensing division of Paramount Pictures, for licensing rights to children's characters from The Busy World of Richard Scarry. The greeting card manufacturer plans to introduce a wide range of everyday and seasonal juvenile products, including greeting cards, gift wrap, partyware and stickers, all themed with Scarry's Busytown characters. Scarry's books have sold more than 100 million copies worldwide, with 11 of his top titles appearing on the Publisher's Weekly list of the Best Selling Children's Books of All Time. Scarry, who died in 1994, published more than 300 titles in his 26-year career, and nearly 100 are still in print.

Housewares Show Goes On-Line

ROSEMONT, Ill. -- Retailers can now attend the 1998 International Housewares Show interactively through Housewares Show Online -- A Virtual Show Planner that runs though March 15, 1998. The Online Show allows individuals who cannot physically attend the show an electronic glimpse of products, exhibits and meetings.

Accessed through the NHMA's web site at http://www.housewares.org., the Online Show allows visitors to research products and companies, examine floor plans for booth locations, read about show events and activities, communicate with exhibitors and other attendees, and schedule meetings.

Moreover, the Online Show will serve as the product locator inside the Housewares Show, enabling visitors to browse through exhibitors' virtual booths featuring product photos, descriptions, company contacts, press releases and links to exhibitors' own web sites.

''The Online Show serves as a communications and planning tool for attendees and exhibitors before the January event," said Phil Brandl, the NHMA president. "Attendees can begin scheduling appointments and planning their show ahead of time," he added.
