HOUSTON -- Randalls Food Markets here rounded out this year's Rodeo Bucks promotion with a contest tied to its frequent-shopper card.
Shoppers who purchased specially marked items with their Remarkable card were eligible to win four tickets to see country singer Vince Gill at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Ten winners were chosen to attend the March 2 event.
"Register to Win Rodeo Tickets Each Time You Purchase a Designated Rodeo Buck Item and Use Your Remarkable Card Through Feb. 25," read a sign in the lobby of the chain's Flagship store at 12850 Memorial Drive, which SN visited. The sign was placed over a display of Coca-Cola and Frito-Lay products.
The contest is a new component in the rodeo campaign, now in its second year. As last year, consumers were made aware of the promotion through ceiling hangers and advertising in Randalls' in-store circular. Shelf tags alerted customers to products that were part of the promotion.
Shoppers who purchased any of the tagged items or spent $30 or more received a Rodeo Buck upon checkout. The coupons printed simultaneously with the customer's receipt.
Customers who collected a specified number of Rodeo Bucks could use them at other retailing outlets throughout Houston. For example, five Bucks could be exchanged for a $4 movie ticket or 10% off regularly priced clothing at a local store.
