Melrose Park, Ill.-based Jewel-Osco provided 9,500 turkeys and hams, 5,000 cans of cranberries and $45,000 worth of gifts to various organizations for the holiday season. The company also made food donations to programs headed by Secretary of State Jesse White, the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition and Local 881 United Food and Commercial Workers for Building Brighter Futures.

Jewel-Osco is the Midwest Region of Albertson's, Boise, Idaho. Another Albertson's division, Acme Markets, Malvern, Pa., collaborated with Kraft Foods to raise money to supply holiday dinners to 1,000 families. In November, Acme customers helped raise the funds by purchasing selected Kraft products. For each product, Acme donated twenty cents.
