ST. LOUIS -- Schnuck Markets here has introduced enhanced flavors and new packaging for its private-label Schnucks Super Soda line of carbonated beverages.
"Our new formulations add fullness to some flavors and give others a more distinct fruit flavor," Rick Frede, group vice president for frozen foods and dairy products, said in a statement. "The enhancements take advantage of recent changes in bottling technology and flavor developments, which allow us to provide top-quality beverages to our customers."
The company said Schnucks Super Soda has enjoyed "major sales growth" since being introduced in 1992.
"We have been particularly successful in making inroads into the high-volume cola market," Frede said.
Schnucks Super Soda is available in 11 different flavors, with Schnucks cola and diet cola being the most popular with customers. Other flavors include diet caffeine-free cola, lemon lime, diet lemon lime, root beer, orange, Dr. Phizz, cream, black cherry and grape.
In addition, the 90-unit chain has added three flavors to its original line of Schnucks Natural Springs sparkling waters introduced in 1993: tropical, white grape and strawberry. Other flavors in the line include blackberry, mixed berry, raspberry, peach and black cherry.
Schnucks soft drinks and flavored waters are produced and bottled to the company's specifications by Cott Beverages, which owns Vess Beverages here.
