WASHINGTON -- Three major food industry trade organizations will band together next year for a Joint Food Industry Public Affairs Assembly to be held here March 15 to 17.

Organizers said retailers, wholesalers and state association members will also have the opportunity to meet with their elected officials during the forum.

Participants will also hear from political observers who will analyze the 1998 congressional campaign and its potential effect on the food industry. The conference will conclude with a Capitol Hill reception.

"Our associations have always worked well together on issues that we share in common, but this is the first time that we have ever joined to bring our combined strength to Capitol Hill," said Tom Zaucha, president and chief executive officer of the NGA.
