ARLINGTON, Va. — The Women Grocers of America said Thursday it will hold the first-ever "WGA 5K Fun Run/Walk Presented by the Kellogg Co." on Feb. 11 at the Mirage Resort in Las Vegas during the annual National Grocers Association convention there.
WGA said money raised from the event will be used to fund educational and professional opportunities for the next generation of individuals in the independent grocery and food industry, with an emphasis on young women.
The NGA show is scheduled for the Mirage Feb. 10-13, 2013.

Peter Larkin, president and chief executive officer of NGA, said, "We are all committed to the health of the grocery industry by ensuring a constant stream of talented young people who want to make a career in this fascinating and ever-changing business, particularly in the independent retail and wholesale sector."
Attendees to the NGA show can take part in the non-competitive event by signing up to participate for $25 per runner; by sponsoring other runners; by making a donation; or by volunteering to help organize the event. Corporate sponsorships, partnerships and in-kind donation opportunities are also available.
