Ahold Names Singh EVP-Operations

CARLISLE, Pa. — Ahold USA on Thursday said that Bhavdeep Singh will transition from his current role as executive vice president of human resources to a new position as executive vice president of operations, effective Oct. 3.

CARLISLE, Pa. — Ahold USA [2] on Thursday said that Bhavdeep Singh will transition from his current role as executive vice president of human resources to a new position as executive vice president of operations, effective Oct. 3.

In his new role, Singh will report to Carl Schlicker, chief operating officer of Ahold USA, and will provide guidance and support to the Stop & Shop New England, Stop & Shop New York Metro, Giant Carlisle and Giant Landover divisions by identifying ways to drive sales and profit and leverage best practices. Division presidents will continue to run all aspects of business in their divisions. A process to identify a new EVP of Ahold USA human resources is underway, the company added.

Singh joined Ahold USA in January 2011. He previously was chief executive officer of Fortis Healthcare in New Delhi, India. Prior to that, Singh was CEO of India-based convenience retailer Reliance Fresh.

Before relocating to India from the U.S., Singh spent several years in diverse leadership positions with A&P [3], including president of the Superfresh and Food Emporium divisions.
