America's Second Harvest Now 'Feeding America'

America's Second Harvest, a hunger-relief organization, said on Friday it had changed its name to Feeding America.

CHICAGO — America's Second Harvest, a hunger-relief organization, said on Friday it had changed its name to Feeding America. The move was made in an effort to gain greater awareness among the general public, the organization, which operates 200 food banks around the country, said. “With one in eight Americans struggling with food insecurity issues, there is a definitely need for greater prominence of the hunger issue,” said David Taylor, chairman of the board at Feeding America and group president of global home products for Procter & Gamble. The new name is more "direct and action-oriented," added Vikki Escarra, president and chief executive officer, Feeding America.
