LUFKIN, Texas — Brookshire Brothers may launch an exclusive wine brand within the first half of this year.
“We want to have a wine that people can only buy in our stores,” Phil Metzinger, vice president of specialty beverage and tobacco, told SN. Though few details have been finalized, the chain is considering a Texas winery to produce its brand.
Other retailers have also delved into the exclusive wine business. Food Lion has several wine varietals available only at its stores. One of the most recent added to its shelves is Childress Vineyards' Classic Scupperdine, $6.99, a blend of southern muscadine and scuppernong grapes.
