MINNEAPOLIS — Jewel-Osco, a division of Supervalu here, has received GreenChill Gold Certification from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, recognizing the store’s eco-friendly refrigeration system, for a recently opened “green” store on Chicago’s far South Side.

Jewel-Osco also designed the “store according to the standards for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), established by the U.S. Green Building Council. “Wherever possible, we’re focused on building environmentally friendly technology into our new and remodeled stores,” said Jewel-Osco President Keith Nielsen.
